31 May RISK = GROWTH = SUCCESS
WHAT DOES SUCCESS MEAN TO YOU?
Is success measured by the accomplishment of a goal or by becoming more of the person you want to be or by attaining wealth? Success can be all of these and much more.
Success occurs when you recognize that fear is keeping you stuck, step out of your comfort zone and take a risk. That risk can be emotional, physical, financial, mental or spiritual. Success happens when you expose a part of yourself to possible failure, rejection, ridicule, anger, vulnerability, etc. Success is the choice you make to take the risk that results in your learning something about yourself, having a new experience, meeting a new person or people, opening yourself to the next new thing.
TODAY, ALLOW YOURSELF A SUCCESS!
- Pick an area of your life in which you feel stuck.
- Identify one thing you are willing to do, say, or have to ‘unstIck’ yourself.
- Take the risk and follow through on that one action.
- Acknowledge yourself for doing it. Be proud of yourself.
- Celebrate your success.
You want to go to a local art opening, but you don’t want to go alone and none of your go-to friends are interested. You’ve been taking a painting class, but have not really gotten to know the other students in the class and are afraid to ask a stranger to go with you to the opening. At class that night, you begin to say hello to the other students, and even though it is uncomfortable, successfully ask one or two people if they would like to go to the opening with you.
Congratulations! Asking is the SUCCESS, whether or not anyone can go. Acknowledge yourself for asking. “I acknowledge myself for taking the risk to ask”. Go to the art opening with a new friend or take yourself and spend the evening smiling at people. Remind yourself how proud you are of yourself for stepping out of your comfort zone and asking.
ONE SUCCESS BUILDS ON THE NEXT.
